Beginning July 22 and continuing every other Saturday throughout the summer, I will host Santa Barbara AVA wine education and guided tastings at the spectacular Ritz-Carlton Bacara.

The newly renovated tasting room, overlooking the sparkling Pacific, creates an ideal setting for learning, sipping and savoring.
During each class, we explore the key regions that make up Santa Barbara wine country:
Santa Maria Valley AVA
Known for its cool climate and famed for world-class pinot noir and chardonnay.
Santa Ynez Valley AVA
A larger, diverse region home to several sub-AVAs including:
• Ballard Canyon (renowned for Syrah)
• Los Olivos District (elegant Rhône blends)
• Happy Canyon (Bordeaux varieties with rich structure)
As you taste through these wines, you will discover exactly how a few miles — or a shift in elevation — can dramatically influence flavor, texture and aroma.
